World-renowned boxer Alfred Lamptey and his trainer, Ebenezer Adjei, have set out for a rigorous training camp in Johannesburg, South Africa, as they gear up for a highly anticipated showdown in Abu Dhabi on March 2, 2024.

The dynamic duo departed on Saturday, January 27, 2024, for a four-week training stint at the esteemed Hot Box Gym in Johannesburg. Under the expert guidance of Colin Nathan, a decorated world champion trainer, Lamptey and Adjei will fine-tune their skills and strategies in preparation for the upcoming battle.

Colin Nathan, known for shaping champions in the world of boxing, expressed his enthusiasm for working with Lamptey and Adjei. “I see tremendous potential in Alfred Lamptey, and together with Ebenezer Adjei, we will focus on honing his strengths and addressing any weaknesses to ensure he is in peak condition for the fight,” said Nathan.

After the training camp in Johannesburg, the team will move their operations to Dubai, specifically to Round 10 Boxing Gym, to finalize preparations for the momentous event in Abu Dhabi. The transition to Dubai will provide the team with a change in scenery and additional resources to sharpen their competitive edge.

A major twist in Lamptey’s career sees him stepping up from the Super Featherweight division, where he achieved multiple wins, to the Lightweight class. His adversary for the March 2 showdown is none other than French Super Featherweight, Jaouad Belmehdi, who is also making the move up to the Lightweight division.

The Abu Dhabi event is set to be a historic clash between two accomplished fighters venturing into new weight classes, adding an extra layer of excitement for boxing enthusiasts. Lamptey and Belmehdi’s transition to Lightweight promises an intriguing battle, with both fighters aiming to make their mark in their new division.

The highly anticipated event is organized and promoted by AAM Seddiqi Sports, under the auspices of the Abu Dhabi Cultural Ministry. The global audience eagerly awaits the spectacle, as Lamptey and Belmehdi prepare to showcase their skills and determination in the ring on March 2, 2024, in what promises to be a defining moment in their respective careers.
