Ghana’s George “Red Tiger” Ashie To Now Face Alexis Rocha In DAZN Main Event

George Ashie is set to square off against Alexis Rocha on Saturday 28th January 2023 at YouTube Theater in Inglewood. The fight is scheduled for 12 rounds in the Welterweight division, which means the weight limit will be 147 pounds (10.5 stone or 66.7 KG).

 

Alexis Rocha steps into the ring with a record of 21 wins, 1 loss and 0 draw, 13 of those wins coming by the way of knockout.

 

George Ashie will make his way to the ring with a record of 33 wins, 5 losses and 1 draw, with 25 of those wins by knockout. The stats suggest Ashie has an advantage in power over Rocha, with a 76% knockout percentage over Rocha’s 62%.

 

Alexis Rocha is the younger man by 13 years, at 25 years old. Alexis Rocha fights out of the southpaw stance, while George Ashie is an orthodox fighter. Rocha is the less experienced professional fighter, having had 17 fewer fights, and made his debut in 2016, 12 years and 4 months later than Ashie, whose first professional fight was in 2003. He has fought 77 fewer professional rounds, 122 to Ashie’s 199.

 

Alexis Rocha goes into the fight ranked number 3 by the WBO and 12 by the IBF at welterweight.

George Ashie is currently ranked number 14 by the WBA in the 147lb division.

 

Rocha has beaten 4 of his last 5 opponents, stopping 2 of them, and going the distance twice.

In his last fight, he defeated Jesus Antonio Perez Campos on 29th October 2022 by unanimous decision in their 10-round contest at Pechanga Arena, San Diego, United States.

 

Previous to that, he had defeated Luis Alberto Veron on 16th July 2022 by unanimous decision in their 10-round contest at Crypto.com Arena, Los Angeles.

 

Going into that contest, he beat Blair Cobbs on 19th March 2022 by knockout in the 9th round at USC Galen Center, California. Before that, he had won against Jeovanis Barraza on 13th November 2021 by knockout in the 9th round at Honda Center, California. He had been beaten by Rashidi Ellis on 30th October 2020 by unanimous decision in their 12-round contest at Fantasy Springs Casino, California.
