The boxing match-up between George Ashie and Robert Quaye was one talked about bout in the Ghanaian boxing circle and it lived up to expectations as both fighters gave an explosive account of themselves.


George ‘Red Tiger’ Ashie, 38 born in the heart of Accra has a professional record of 39 bouts, winning 33 with 25 bouts by way of KOs, losing 5 and drawing a fight.


The Super lightweight boxer who also fought in the Lightweight, Light welterweight and Super featherweight division got recognized by the World Boxing Authorities in the latest ranking which saw the Ghanaian move up.


While in the United States working to get back in the ring, George Ashie after his explosive fight against Robert Quaye and his records saw him ranked 14th in the welterweight division by the WBA.


With more than just boxing on his mind, the ‘Red Tiger’ has hinted he will work hard to ensure Ghanaian boxers will continue to retain their recognition as his predecessors did while touching on the legacy Professor Azumah Nelson, Ike Quartey and Joshua Clottey have left to follow.
