In a spectacular display of skill and determination, the SM Boxing Foundation and Ghana Boxing Federation jointly organized a high-stakes tournament on January 27th and 28th, showcasing the best of Ghanaian boxing talent. Sponsored by BASE Pharmacy Co. Ltd., the tournament has successfully identified the finalists who will represent Ghana in the upcoming 2024 Youth World Championship.

The event unfolded at the prestigious Charles Quartey Boxing Gym, where the finalists commenced their intensive training under the watchful eye of the renowned head coach, Charles Quartey. The training sessions mark the beginning of an arduous preparation journey for the promising boxers, as they gear up to compete on the global stage.

In attendance were the first vice president of the Ghana Boxing Federation, Dauda Fuseni, and the second vice president, Solomon Otto. Both officials engaged in a brief yet impactful discussion with the selected boxers, offering words of encouragement and emphasizing the importance of discipline, dedication, and sportsmanship.

The tournament drew attention not only for its competitive bouts but also for the involvement of the season’s No.1 boxing photographer, Nii Otoe Bruce-Tagoe of 29PhotoStudio. “The partnership with BASE Pharmacy Co. Ltd. has been instrumental in making this tournament a reality. Their commitment to supporting sports development in Ghana is commendable, and we are grateful for their sponsorship,” expressed Charles Quartey, the head coach, during a brief interview.

The finalists now revealed and ready to take on the world, are set to undergo rigorous training in the coming months. The SM Boxing Foundation and Ghana Boxing Federation are determined to provide the necessary support to ensure that the athletes are well-prepared for the challenges that lie ahead at the 2024 Youth World Championship.
