By Nii Otoe Bruce-Tagoe

Ghana will compete in the 2026 Billie Jean King Cup Africa Group III in Botswana from July 13–18, where 11 countries will battle for the lone promotion spot to Africa Group II.

The participating nations are Algeria, Botswana, Burundi, Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Namibia, Nigeria, Tunisia, and Zimbabwe.

As preparations continue, the Ghana Tennis Federation (GTF) is working to raise its GHC300,000 budget to support four players and a team captain for the competition.

The federation has expressed gratitude to Stanbic Bank (GHC50,000), Ecobank Development Corporation (EDC) (GHC30,000), and CBG Bank (GHC10,000). The GTF also acknowledges the generous voluntary donations from members of the tennis fraternity and other individuals who have contributed towards the team’s campaign.

GTF President Isaac Aboagye Duah remains hopeful that the remaining funds will be secured in time for Team Ghana to travel and represent the nation. He thanked all sponsors, donors, and supporters for their commitment to Ghana tennis.

Fine Water has also pledged to support the team’s pre-camp training by providing refreshments for the players and officials.

The provisional squad of four players and a team captain is expected to be announced soon as Ghana prepares for its quest to earn promotion to Africa Group II.
